Requesting a Personal Web Site

  • Who May Request Web Space?
  • Faculty may have space on the College web server for a web site to house information such as vitas, information about academic publications and research, and ongoing interests and activities. Faculty may also request web space for course material. See Requesting a Course Web Site.

Graduate Students who are involved in academic research may be eligible for a web site upon request of a sponsoring faculty member.

  • What do I need to do?

Faculty and Graduate Students will be expected to adhere to the USC Web Policy at: http://sc.edu/policies/acaf704.html
  • A signed copy of this policy should be given to the Web Coordinator at the time of the request. Your request will be handled by the Web Coordinator and you will be notified via email when the web space is ready for you to use.

  • What other information should I know?
  • (1) Personal Web spaces are created on the CASW1 server in the People directory.

    (2) Your directory or folder name is your USC Network User Name.

    (3) The default amount of storage space is 50 MB. If you already know that you will exceed this, include the total amount needed in the initial request. More space can be requested as needed in the future.

    (4) Your home page file name should be index.html.

    (5) All personal web pages should have a disclaimer on the bottom or footer as follows:

The views and opinions expressed in this page are strictly those of the page author. The contents of the page have not been reviewed or approved by the University of South Carolina.

    (6) See Connecting to your Web Site for detailed instructions on how to connect to your web site(s) on and off campus.
