Population Biology Beowulf Cluster

The Extinction Machine nodes use the Rocks Linux Clustering Software system based on Red Hat Linux. Rocks is an ongoing project hosted by the San Diego Supercomputer Center that is sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure. The Rocks parallel computing environment is extremely stable and provides all the tools needed for true high performance computing. Extinction simulations are coded in C++ using the Message Passing Interface.
